I remember when the grocer's name was "Dino's" before it became "Devon Market." That was years ago. Now, this eclectically - stocked grocery store has its own web site.
For those not familiar with "Devon Market" it is located at 1440 West Devon Avenue (at the Greenview CTA bus stop) in Chicago's Roger's Park neighbourhood. While you're there, pick up a loaf of their warm Balkan, baked bread (often located at the checkout lanes). I dare you NOT to eat it all before you get home!
Besides outstanding bakery products, the grocery store also offers good quality produce, fish and seafood, a deli, and prepared foods, such as sushi, hot rotisserie chicken and some of the best tamales I have ever eaten.
As far as economy goes, I have often found Devon Market's produce, meats and poultry comparable to, or even cheaper than, ALDI. I have walked out of that place with 4 bags of groceries, for under $30. Compared to the major supermarket chains, I consider that a steal!
